2008 C-USA Preview

Projected Standings:

East

East Carolina | 7-1 | 9-3
UCF | 6-2 | 7-5
Southern Miss | 5-3 | 7-5
Memphis | 4-4 | 6-6
Marshall | 2-6 | 3-9
UAB | 2-6 | 3-9

West

Tulsa | 8-0 | 11-1
SMU | 4-4 | 5-7
Houston | 4-4 | 7-5
Rice | 3-5 | 5-7
UTEP | 2-6 | 4-8
Tulane | 1-7 | 3-9

Predictions:

- East Carolina, who has the toughest non-conference slate of all the non-BCS schools, will win two of their OOC games.

- Tulsa will flirt with an undefeated season and a BCS Bowl bid, but come up short on both goals. They will however blow away the competition in the West division and cruise to a third conference championship appearence in four years.

- June Jones will transform the SMU offense immediately, but the wins won't some right away. They will still finish with a losing record.

- Marshall will have another subpar year under head coach Mark Snyder, who will be fired at the end of the season.

- Rice will again have an explosive offense spear-headed by QB Chase Clement and WR Jarrett Dillard, but they will only have a marginal improvement in their record. No postseason for the Owls this year.

You were absolutely correct that ECU would win two of its OOC games. Odd that the two they won were probably the two you didn't expect.
